There was a time that the most famous fizzy drink, coca cola, was in everyone's fridge.
According to Wikipedia, "The Coca-Cola formula and brand was bought in 1889 ... and incorporated The Coca-Cola Company in 1892."
It took us a long time to "detach" ourself, didn't it?
I wonder how long it'll be before the next un-fashionable item or way of life is revealed!
