Pink Blossoms on the sea


Screams are silenced as the panicked movement of arms and legs freeze.
Convulsion ends.
Fever is suppressed.
Pen wails: twenty-three withered cherry blossoms on the page are staring back.  
The sea is inhaled by pink blooms.

This is the introduction that I wrote for the Tragedy-pickers piece, as part of DIPACT's response (Sombre Dreamsto Isaac Julien's Ten Thousands Waves 23 Chinese cockle pickers tragically died at Morecambe bay. 
The performance took place at the Whitworth Art Gallery on 21 June 2018.
