I Am an Orange Dot is a monologue inspired by stories of migrants and asylum seekers. The performance is followed by a Q and A / discussion session focusing on issues such as identity, race and freedom of movement.

I Am an Orange Dot. Part human, part not. Although I am not always appearing on statistics related to human casualties, I am one.

The monologue is dedicated to all of those who travel a long and scary road in order to find freedom and peace.

"I Am an Orange Dot", is a monologue by Shahireh Sharif. It refers to a bird's-eye view of a body, in an orange life vest, floating in the ocean.

It was performed on the
20th June 2022, at 4pm at the
Stockport Central Library.

The performance was followed by an author event where Shahireh shared extracts from her unpublished debut novel.

من نقطه‌ای نارنجیم تک‌گویی نوشته شهیره شریف است که به موضوع پناهندگانی که به امید رهایی در اقیانوس غرق می‌شوند می‌پردازد. این تک‌گویی به زبان انگلیسی بود و برنامه با خوانش بخشی از رمان چاپ نشده شهیره به انگلیسی ادامه یافت. با سپاس از کتابخانه مرکزی استاکپورت و دوستانی که در برنامه شرکت نمودند.

Two of my short films (Volatile and I am an orange dot) are featured at the International Women's Day Film Festival this Saturday (7th march). It is a free event and I hope to see some of you there.

'I am an orange dot' is a monologue inspired by real life events. It looks at the world from a refugee perspective.
