Saying goodbye to this year's Persian New Year celebration

Today is sizda bedar (13 bedar) . This day, for many people, marks the end of celebration for Norouz (Persian New Year, which is the exact moment of arrival of spring).

Sizda bedar is traditionally celebrated outdoor in nature. Sabzeh (one of the symbolic objects of Norous celebration) is thrown into a river; it is supposed to take all the bad luck away with it!

For people living in countries that don't celebrate Norous and tend to carry on with work, school, etc. as normal, the celebration won't end here! The bulk of our celebration and parties has to wait for the arrival of the Easter holiday (a Christian festival marking the resurrection of Jesus Christ). Last year, Norouz and Ester break coincided. But this year we still have Easter to look forward to and to drag our New Year celebration into.

  1. Hi,my fair lady! Those bean sprouts would be a good dish when they grow to about an inch long. Chinese usually use mung beans and soy beans to prepare this dish.

I was thinking of writing about this tomorrow!
Could you please tell me what is the name of this dish?

  3. No special name for this dish, simply "saute bean sprouts".It's a common one, we have it all year round!

    Thanks for writing back.
I think I've tried this in Chinese takeaways. It's a nice and healthy dish.
